Experience the short version of the famous Inca Trail with WPeru-Travel, ensuring an unforgettable adventure. On the first day, you will hike approximately 11 kilometers, discovering the Inca, Quechua, and Andean culture, whose capital was Cusco (Q’osqo), extending across Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia, Argentina, and Colombia.

The trail winds through the Andean mountains and Sacred Valley, hidden among cloud forests and overlooking the Peruvian Amazon, featuring archaeological sites such as Chachabamba (2,200 m / 7,218 ft) and Wiñay Wayna (2,650 m / 8,694 ft). DAY 1
CUSCO – WIÑAY WAYNA – MACHUPICCHU
    START OF THE INCA TREK

We start the day with an early pick-up from your hotel (depending on the train schedule) and transfer to the train station. Next, we travel by train for approximately two and a half hours until we reach kilometer 104, the starting point of the Short Inca Trail.

From here, we hike for about 4 hours to the Inca site Wiñay Wayna (2,680 m), enjoying stunning views of the surrounding Andes and cloud forests along the way.

After exploring Wiñay Wayna, we continue to Inti Punku (Sun Gate) (2,730 m), where you will experience your first spectacular panoramic view of Machu Picchu (2,400 m). Then, we walk the final part of the trail toward the ancient city. Before reaching Machu Picchu, we take a side trail down to Aguas Calientes, allowing us to save the main Machu Picchu visit for the next day.

Finally, in Aguas Calientes, we enjoy dinner and a well-deserved rest, preparing for an early and exciting visit to Machu Picchu the following day.

    MEALS: Box lunch, Lunch, Dinner.
    OVERNIGHT: Aguas Calientes.

    DAY 2
MACHUPICCHU TOUR – RETURN TO CUSCO
MACHUPICCHU THE WONDER OF THE WORLD
We have breakfast and then take the first bus to Machu Picchu. Your guide offers you a walking tour (2 hours) and then you can explore the mysterious city by yourself. If you have energy, you can also climb Huayna Picchu (2720m) (It takes about 45 minutes to reach the top).

For lunch and you will be given your train tickets back to Cusco (bus transfer from Ollantaytambo). The train generally departs between 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., depending on Peru Rail’s assignments and availability (to be confirmed).

If desired, an extra night in Aguas Calientes can be arranged. This option is very popular as it allows more time to explore Machu Picchu. You can also go to the hot springs in town, a real treat after finishing the Inca Trail.
    MEALS: Breakfast.
