CITY TOUR
This tour allows you to professionally explore the different places that make up the historical center of Arequipa, as well as the main viewpoints surrounding the city. First, enjoy a pleasant walking tour while learning about the city’s culture and history. Beginning in the historic center, you will walk through main attractions with free admission, admiring colonial architecture. Then, we travel by private car with a guide to the main viewpoints of Arequipa, where you can enjoy beautiful views, learn about the city’s history, and understand the current situation of the White City.
RUTA DEL SILLAR
To start, we meet at our designated point and begin the Sillar Route, leaving the city towards the Añashuayco quarry. Here, the guide will explain the extraction process of sillar, the stone used in most constructions around Arequipa’s main square. You will also learn about carving, sculpture, and the mega carvings made by master stonemasons.
Afterwards, we visit the Culebrillas ravine, a quarry no longer in use. During the visit, we walk for about 20 minutes through a small canyon formed by water erosion. Finally, we see some petroglyphs to admire and photograph while the guide explains their significance. Then, we return to Arequipa to finish the tour.
CAÑON DEL COLCA
DAY 1: Arequipa – Colca Canyon
Early in the morning, our vehicle passes by your hotel to begin the trip to one of the deepest canyons in the world. Along the way, we travel through Yura, bordering the snowy Chachani, and across the pampa Cañahuas (National Reserve of Aguada Blanca and Salinas), home to vicuñas. During the drive, we stop in the bofedales de Tocra to observe migratory birds, including flamingos, and pass through the crater of the extinct volcano Chucura. Next, we reach the viewpoint of the volcanoes, the highest area of the road (4,910 m.a.s.l.), offering panoramic views of the western mountain range.
At noon, we arrive in Chivay – Colca and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy the thermal baths with temperatures ranging from 35º to 38º Celsius, perfect for relaxing after the journey.
DAY 2: Colca Canyon – Arequipa
Early in the morning, visit the viewpoint of the Cross of the Condor, a strategic point to observe the canyon and the spectacular flight of condors. On the return trip, stop in the villages of Pinchollo, Maca, and Yanque, each with beautiful colonial churches. Additionally, visit the viewpoints of Choquetico and Antahuilque to see the impressive valley terraces, pre-Inca tombs, and agricultural models. Finally, return to the city of Arequipa, arriving at approximately 4:00 p.m.
