Upon arrival, the villagers will demonstrate how the islands are built from reeds and explain their daily activities. Next, enjoy a ride on a traditional reed boat to the main island, where you can optionally taste local cuisine. Afterwards, return to the port of Puno for lunch with typical dishes and have the afternoon free to explore the city.
TAQUILE ISLAND
On the way to Taquile Island, we visit the floating islands of the Uros. Taquile, located 35 km from Puno, is known for its fine textiles, some of the finest Peruvian handicrafts. Upon arrival, travelers are welcomed with stunning lake views and a simple stone entrance.
The island also offers beautiful landscapes and archaeological sites, but its greatest treasure is its Quechua inhabitants, renowned for their hospitality and warmth.
Note: the boat ride takes approximately 1.5 hours each way.
AMANTANI ISLAND
This excursion, called “Around the World on Lake Titicaca,” offers a unique experience with the Quechua-speaking community of Amantani. Visitors can learn about their simple and hospitable way of life.
During the visit, you will hike to the island’s highest points to see the temples of Pacha Tata and Pacha Mama.
